Ilma Ali is a Darwin based multi-disciplinary designer. She is an architectural designer, fine artist and launches yearly textile collections showcasing her wearable art collections on independent fashion runways.

Her childhood was widespread over various countries across Asia and the African islands of the Seychelles. Growing up to changing new environments created an ever-expanding perspective of the world and constant curiosity for further exploration.

Ilma has completed a Masters of Architecture in 2012 at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. After gaining experience in some local and international architectural offices, notably Troppo Architects in Darwin, ARM Architecture in Melbourne and Josep Ferrando Architecture in Barcelona, Spain, she has now launched her own practice with her unique ethos.

As a fine artist, her work brings her so much joy but more importantly, her recent exhibitions have also supported her passion project to provide meals for school kids in Sri Lanka, in her father’s home town of Mawanella where her family have come together to build a school.

She runs a thriving inter-disciplinary practice with a focus on work that ensures quality, creativity and play. Aiming to be unique in nature, her approach to style is bold, evoking a sense of presence and timelessness.

With every project, carefully considering sustainability and ethics.
